A downloadable collection of RPGs

Some time ago, I operated a Patreon account, producing one-shots and campaigns for the entertainment of a small but dedicated group of patrons. Although the community is now gone, its works live on in this collection of five simple RPGs. By purchasing this collection, you receive:

Second-Handers

You are members of EPOCH – the Establishment for the Preservation and Organization of CHronology. You are experienced time travellers, able to survive the rigours of history. You have also been responsible for a disaster, or failed at your missions, or just never really displayed a lot of aptitude for your job. As a result, EPOCH has shuffled you down the ranks, to the Committee for Chronological Custodians. You are, in the bureau’s slang, Second-Handers, the people tasked with fixing history’s least pressing and dangerous problems, cleaning up after minor paradoxes, and generally acting as temporal janitors. It’s not a glamourous job. It’s not a respected job. But it’s the only way that you’re legally allowed to time travel, so what are you gonna do?

Second-Handers is a game about a bunch of semi-competent people dealing with some of the most complex problems in existence, across the entire breadth of history.  A set of five different colours of either d6s or Fudge dice are required to play.

All I Do Is Win

The world is a complicated place. Systemic problems can't be easily fought, and the mechanisms of society encourage the status quo. Violence begets violence. Real personal connections are rare. Sometimes you just want to make friends and punch bad guys.

If so, this game is for you.

All I Do Is Win is a Powered By The Apocalypse RPG about a small group of extremely capable friends fighting against vast and dangerous forces, talking about their feelings, and having each others' backs.

Lambs to the Slaughter

A group of teens enter a haunted mansion to stay the night. A team of scientists work to isolate a deadly plague on a remote lunar base. A team of vampire hunters finds more than they bargained for in the Pacific Northwest.

Lambs to the Slaughter is an action-horror RPG in which everything is not going to be alright. The players spend early scenes developing their characters and setting, and then nightmarish forces are unleashed, putting them and their loved ones in terrible danger. Each time you intervene to save someone, learn something, or make the situation better, it becomes harder to do so in the future. You will be ground down, weakened, and you will face the darkness. In the end it only remains to be seen who will live, and who will make a difference.

Phantom Agencies

In 1984, determined researchers conclusively proved the existence of ghosts. At first, this was a bombshell – a scientific breakthrough that threatened to unmake everything that we knew about the world and our place in it. Funding for ectophysics exploded, and very serious commentators discussed what the existence of ghosts meant for religions, communities, and philosophy.

As it happened, the very serious commentators were very seriously underestimating humanity’s ability to just roll with it.

In Phantom Agencies, a Forged in the Dark game, players take on the role of a small, recently-established paranatural agency, most likely one that is trying a few avenues to make ends meet. Through your work, you need to look for jobs, deal with municipal bureaucracy, compete with rival ghost-hunting agencies and handle the worlds of small business and supernatural disasters.

The Gig Economy

It is Year 53 of the Age of Automation. With every menial task operated entirely by machine, the need for work has dimmed. The glittering Society of the ultra-wealthy spend their time with games, sport, and culture. It is truly a new Gilded Age.  But there are no jobs. There are no opportunities. Citizens spend hours sitting and watching machines that don’t need repairs or maintenance, just in case something breaks, then return to their tiny homes to eat prepackaged food and watch community vids on the heavily monitored and regulated internet.

With time on their hands, people don’t stagnate. They create. They dream. There are rats in the walls of the Society – criminals, smugglers, and above all, artists. Security guards sitting pointless ten-hour shifts jot down poetry or sketch the assembly lines. Kids on the street play soccer and invent entirely new sports, or explore abandoned malls and parks. Wherever you look, there is expression. There is energy. There is hope.

The Gig Economy is a game of performative heists, art rebellion, and social stratification, using the Forged in the Dark System.

Note: The Gig Economy is in an alpha state, and requires access to the Blades in the Dark SRD. It is fully-formatted and playable, but does not include character sheets or artwork.
